Osun APC Warns Adeleke Over Motor Park Appointments

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has warned Governor Ademola Adeleke against appointing managers for motor parks under the proposed state-run Park Management System.

The warning followed the killing of an aide to the governor and Accord Party member, Olalekan Oyeyemi, popularly known as Emir Ajagungbade, who was reportedly killed during a power struggle between rival factions of the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Ile-Ife.

The APC, through its Director of Media and Information, Kola Olabisi, described the governor’s directive to transition to a state-run park management system as illegal and unconstitutional.

Olabisi argued that the establishment, control and regulation of motor parks fall under local government councils, citing Section 7 of the 1999 Constitution.

He warned that the state government could face legal challenges if it proceeds with appointing motor park leadership, and urged Adeleke to reconsider the move.

The APC also accused the governor of repeating what it described as previous unconstitutional actions against elected local government officials, saying such decisions had created legal and political difficulties for the administration.
