The Oyo State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of four passengers abducted in the early hours of March 5 along the Igbeti–Kishi road following what it described as a swift and coordinated security operation. In a statement, the command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, said preliminary findings indicated that armed hoodlums emerged from a nearby bush and blocked the road, intercepting a commercial bus travelling from Igbeti to Kishi. According to him, four passengers were forcefully taken into the surrounding bush during the attack. Olayinka explained that upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Femi Haruna, immediately directed the Divisional Police Officers in Igbeti and Kishi divisions, alongside relevant tactical units, to deploy all necessary operational resources to secure the safe rescue of the victims. “Acting on this directive, a combined security team comprising Police operatives, members of the Amotekun Corps, Operation Burst, and other local security stakeholders swiftly moved to the area and commenced intensive combing of the surrounding forests. “The sustained bush combing operation, which lasted for several hours, mounted significant pressure on the criminals, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee the scene.
