Panic gripped residents of the Igbosi area of Idogun in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State after armed men launched a midnight attack on the community, destroying property and abducting a nine-year-old boy.

The attack occurred in the early hours of Friday when the assailants reportedly stormed the community, firing gunshots indiscriminately and creating fear among residents. The sound of gunfire forced many people to flee their homes and seek refuge in neighbouring communities to avoid being caught in the violence.

During the invasion, the attackers allegedly damaged two residential buildings while attempting to gain access to occupants. In the course of the attack, they abducted a nine-year-old boy identified as Oluwatobi, the son of a local pastor, and whisked him away to an unknown destination.

According to accounts from the community, the armed men arrived under the cover of darkness and operated for several minutes before escaping with the child. The incident has left residents shocked and worried about the worsening security situation in the area.

Security agencies have since launched efforts to rescue the victim and track down those responsible for the attack. A coordinated search operation involving multiple security personnel was reportedly initiated immediately after the incident was reported.

Operatives deployed to the area have been combing nearby forests and suspected escape routes in a bid to locate the abducted child and apprehend the kidnappers. Investigations are also ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and identify all individuals involved.

Authorities have assured residents that every available resource is being deployed to secure the safe return of the child and bring the perpetrators to justice. Security teams have intensified surveillance and intelligence-gathering efforts as part of ongoing operations in the area.

The incident has once again highlighted growing concerns over insecurity in rural communities, where residents continue to face threats from criminal elements operating under the cover of darkness. Community members have called for increased security presence and stronger measures to protect lives and property.

As rescue efforts continue, family members, community leaders, and residents remain hopeful that the abducted boy will be found unharmed and reunited with his loved ones.
