Governor Seyi Makinde has called on the Muslim community across Oyo State to begin seeking divine guidance ahead of the state’s next political transition.
The governor made this appeal on Wednesday while addressing intending pilgrims at the Olodo Hajj Camp, as they prepared to embark on their spiritual journey to Mecca for the 2026 Hajj exercise.
In his remarks, Makinde urged the Muslim Ummah to use the sacred opportunity of the pilgrimage period to pray fervently for the state, particularly in choosing a worthy successor who will sustain the current atmosphere of peace, stability, and development.
He stressed the importance of continuity in governance, noting that leadership decisions should be guided by wisdom, fairness, and the collective interest of all residents of Oyo State.
The governor also highlighted the significance of unity among religious groups, adding that the state has continued to thrive because of mutual respect and cooperation between people of different faiths.
Makinde concluded by wishing the pilgrims a safe journey and a spiritually fulfilling experience, urging them to remember the state in their prayers and return with blessings that will positively impact society.
The statement is already drawing attention as political conversations gradually build toward the next governorship race in the state.
