The former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has showed his unwavering support to Nigerian chess master, Tunde Onakoya, in his attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon on Wednesday.

Onakoya, the coach and founder of Chess in Slums Africa, on  announced his plan to play chess continuously for 58 hours without losing a game starting from 10am on April 17  to 8pm on April 19 in Times Square, New York City.

The chess master made the plan known on his X account on Friday and stated that he is “doing this for the dreams of millions of children across Africa without access to education.”

While replying to his post, Osinbajo wrote on his X handle on Wednesday, “Dear Tunde, best of luck in Times Square as you attempt to set the Guinness World Record for the Longest Chess Marathon! Your resilience and spirit inspire us all. Remember your own powerful words: “It is possible to do great things from a small place.

Since Hilda Baci achieved recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records for the longest cooking time, Nigeria has become a hub of record-breaking attempts, leading to what can be described as a “Guinness World Record pandemic” in the country.

Nigerians have the hope that these attempts will create a podium where original achievements are celebrated and pressing issues are addressed with accurate analysis in the country.
