A United States-based lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has accused President Bola Tinubu of posing a threat to Nigeria’s stability and United States interests.
The firm made the allegation while reacting to remarks reportedly made by US Congressman John James, who stated that “tens of thousands of Nigerians have been slaughtered by terrorists ignored or enabled by the Nigerian government.”
In a statement released on Friday, the lobbying firm, which is under contract to provide lobbying services for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, thanked the congressman for raising the issue before the United States Congress.
The firm claimed that an increasing number of members of the US Congress were speaking out against the Tinubu administration over concerns about insecurity and governance.
It further alleged that the Nigerian government was involved in corruption, drug trafficking, disregard for the rule of law, and interference with the judiciary in an attempt to weaken political opposition ahead of the next presidential election.
