FEDERAL GOVERNMENT RENAMES UNIABUJA

The Federal Executive Council has approved the renaming of the University of Abuja as Yakubu Gowon University. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, revealed this to State House correspondents after the council held its last meeting for 2024 at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja. Idris said the decision  was taken by the Federal Executive Council to honour the elder statesman, General Yakubu Gowon.

NIMET PREDICTS 3-DAY DUST HAZE, CLOUDINESS FROM MONDAY

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has forecast dust haze and cloudiness from today to Wednesday across the country. The NiMet’s weather outlook released in Abuja, predicted that the North central and inland cities of the South are expected to be in dust haze, with visibility ranges of 2km to 5km throughout the forecast period. US EMBASSY ISSUES NEW DIRECTIVE FOR NIGERIAN VISA APPLICANTS

The United States Embassy in Nigeria has reviewed its immigration visa processes for immigrants, starting from January 1, 2025. According to the embassy, applicants with interviews will now visit the Consulate General in Lagos at least twice during the process. The embassy explained that the first visit will involve an “In-Person Document Review” with a consular staff member while the second visit will be the visa interview itself, conducted by a Consular Officer.
