Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have rejected the planned coalition against the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This was one of the outcomes of the PDP Governors meeting held in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital today.
It will be recalled that former Vice Presiident Atiku Abubakar and the party’s 2023 presidential candidate had recently hinted that the party was going into a coalition with other opposition leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Chairman of the forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, who read the communique to journalists said they would not join any merger but were open to welcoming anyone or parties that want to join the party.
The Forum also reiterated its solidarity with Sir Siminalayi Fubara on the ordeal to which his people and his state are being plunged by the declaration of a state of emergency, noting that they will stand with him till the end.
The governors in attendance were Bala Muhammed of Bauchi who is the chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum; Caleb Muftwang of Plateau State; Ahmadu Umar Fintiri of Adamawa State; Agbu Kefas of Taraba; Dauda Lawal of Zamfara; Peter Mbah of Enugu; and Ademola Adeleke of Osun.
The suspended Governor of Rivers, Siminalayi Fubara and Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori were reportedly absent.
