Former Vice-President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has arrived in Sokoto State ahead of the party’s presidential campaign flag-off scheduled for Wednesday.
Atiku arrived at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport at about 1pm, accompanied by members of his campaign team.
He was received by his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi; former Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal; former Minister and Kebbi State governorship candidate, Abubakar Malami; Manir Dan’Iya and other party leaders.
Thousands of ADC supporters also gathered at the party’s state secretariat along Ilorin Road and adjoining roads to welcome Atiku and participate in the campaign event.
One of the supporters, Abubakar Yusuf, said alleged intimidation by the state government would not discourage party members from attending the rally.
Yusuf alleged that personnel of the Sokoto Marshal and the Sokoto State Community Guard Corps had been deployed to block roads leading into the town, but insisted that supporters remained determined to attend the event.
