President Bola Tinubu has said the road infrastructure projects being executed by his administration are revitalising the economy by improving transportation, reducing congestion and creating an enabling environment for businesses.

The President made the remarks on Monday during the commissioning of the newly rehabilitated and expanded road from Karu Interchange to Customs Clinic Junction, along with adjoining roads in the Karu area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Tinubu said the project forms part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration and reflects the Renewed Hope Agenda’s commitment to improving infrastructure and the quality of life for Nigerians.

He noted that the Karu corridor, a major gateway linking the FCT with neighbouring states, had for years experienced severe traffic congestion that affected residents’ productivity and daily activities.

According to the President, expanding and rehabilitating the road network is expected to significantly reduce travel time, ease traffic gridlock and stimulate economic activities in the area.

“We are not just laying asphalt; we are injecting life back into the local economy. This project cuts down daily travel time, eliminates gridlock and ensures that businesses in this densely populated area can thrive under the right conditions,” he said.

Tinubu also highlighted the installation of modern solar-powered streetlights along the road corridor, describing it as a major step towards improving security and enhancing visibility for motorists, particularly at night.

He said the completed road project demonstrates the administration’s commitment to delivering infrastructure that directly impacts the lives of Nigerians and supports sustainable economic growth.
