The Federal Government has increased the monthly imprest allocation for ministers and other senior public officials under the 2026 Annual General Imprest Warrant.

Under the revised arrangement, ministers will receive N700,000 monthly for approved operational expenses such as office stationery, refreshments and other routine administrative needs. This represents an increase from the previous allocation of N300,000.

The adjustment also affects other categories of senior government officials, with revised imprest limits introduced for permanent secretaries, directors-general, directors and heads of departments.

Government officials explained that the review was necessitated by prevailing economic conditions and rising operational costs.

The new imprest structure forms part of the Federal Government’s financial guidelines for the 2026 fiscal year and is intended to support the day-to-day administrative activities of public offices.

The development has attracted public attention amid ongoing discussions about workers’ welfare, rising living costs and demands for improved wages across the country.
