President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to intensify efforts against insecurity and ensure the release of all persons held captive across the country.

Speaking during a national interdenominational church service held in Abuja as part of activities marking the 2026 Democracy Day celebration, the President declared that Nigeria would not yield to terrorists, bandits, or any form of criminal intimidation.

He emphasized that protecting the lives and property of citizens remains the Federal Government’s top priority, noting that recent attacks and abductions highlight the need for sustained security operations across the country.

According to him, ongoing efforts are being made to secure the safe return of all kidnapped victims, while security agencies continue to receive the necessary support and resources to safeguard communities and defend the nation’s territorial integrity.

Tinubu acknowledged the challenges facing Nigerians, including insecurity, kidnappings, displacement, and economic hardship, assuring citizens that his administration remains committed to addressing them.

He stated that the government is aware of the difficulties confronting many Nigerians and is working to improve living conditions through the delivery of democratic dividends and people-centered policies.

As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum, the President urged Nigerians to reject violence, hate speech, and divisive rhetoric, stressing that democracy should not be undermined by conflict.

He also cautioned young people against being used for political violence, thuggery, misinformation, or other activities capable of threatening national peace and stability. He encouraged them to remain focused on protecting their future and contributing positively to national development.

The President further called on religious leaders, traditional rulers, the media, civil society organizations, and families to promote peace, unity, and tolerance as the nation prepares for another electoral cycle.

Tinubu commended members of the Armed Forces and other security agencies for their sacrifices in defending the country and sustaining democratic governance. He urged Nigerians to honour the sacrifices of those who fought for democracy by working together to build a safer, more peaceful, and accountable nation.
