The Oyo State Government has demolished a building allegedly used as a hideout by kidnappers involved in the abduction of the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, and her children.

The demolished property, a three-bedroom bungalow located in the Lako Community along the Aiyegun–Anaye Road area of Ibadan, was brought down on Monday as part of efforts to combat kidnapping and other criminal activities across the state.

Officials from the Oyo State Ministry of Public Works and Transportation carried out the demolition exercise with support from operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, who were present at the scene.

The action is connected to the recent abduction of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul. The victims were kidnapped at the Elewura area of Challenge, Ibadan, on June 3, 2026, an incident that generated widespread concern among residents and heightened calls for stronger security measures.

According to the state government, investigations linked the demolished building to the criminal operation, prompting authorities to take decisive action against the property allegedly used by the suspects.

Government officials said the demolition sends a strong message that Oyo State will not tolerate the use of residential or commercial properties for criminal activities. They added that the administration remains committed to identifying and dismantling criminal networks, while strengthening efforts to ensure the safety of residents.

The government further reaffirmed its determination to work closely with security agencies in tackling kidnapping, banditry, and other forms of violent crime, stressing that individuals or groups found aiding criminal activities would face the full weight of the law.

The demolition marks another step in the state’s ongoing campaign against insecurity as authorities intensify efforts to prevent criminal elements from operating within Oyo State.
