The Oyo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the invasion of the Nigeria Immigration Service Passport Office in Ogbomoso, where armed hoodlums allegedly stole a rifle, ammunition and other valuables.

The incident occurred on Tuesday night at the immigration facility located along the Ogbomoso–Ilorin Expressway.

According to preliminary reports, the attackers gained access to the premises by scaling the perimeter fence from the rear before confronting officers on duty.

Police authorities disclosed that about five armed men invaded the facility and assaulted two immigration officers on night duty using sticks and other dangerous weapons. During the attack, the suspects reportedly made away with a G3 rifle assigned to the office along with its ammunition.

Other items stolen included a mobile phone belonging to one of the officers, a generating set and a motorcycle battery. The attackers escaped through the same route used to gain access to the premises.

The injured officers received medical attention and are reported to be in stable condition.

Following the incident, security operatives intensified surveillance and tactical operations around the area, including searches of surrounding bushes and suspected escape routes, in a bid to apprehend the perpetrators and recover the stolen items.

Security agencies have also activated intelligence-gathering measures and deployed investigative resources to track down those responsible for the attack.

Authorities assured residents of Ogbomoso and neighbouring communities of their commitment to protecting lives and property while ensuring that all those involved in the crime are brought to justice.

Members of the public have been urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious persons or activities to security agencies, with assurances that all information provided will be treated confidentially.
