Schoolchildren and teachers in Bayelsa State have joined the ongoing nationwide protest against the abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State, calling for the immediate rescue of those still in captivity.

In Sagbama Local Government Area, pupils of Community Primary School, Isoni, marched in solidarity, chanting slogans and urging the Federal Government to secure the release of the abducted victims. The children, dressed in their school uniforms, appealed for urgent action to address growing insecurity affecting schools across the country.

A similar demonstration took place in Ekeremor Local Government Area, where students and staff of Government Secondary School, Aleibiri, staged a peaceful protest. The students carried placards and sang solidarity songs while demanding stronger measures to protect schools and ensure the safe return of kidnapped pupils and teachers.

The protests form part of a broader action initiated by the Nigeria Union of Teachers following the abduction of students and teachers from schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The demonstrations have continued to gain support across several states, with teachers, students, labour groups, and civil society organisations calling for improved security in educational institutions and swift action to rescue those held captive.

Many Nigerians have also expressed concern over the rising incidents of school abductions, urging authorities to strengthen security measures and safeguard children’s right to education in a safe environment.
