Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have abducted a man identified as Wasiu Aleshinloye during an attack in Ago-Aare, located in the Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State.
The incident, which occurred on Monday night, reportedly involved about three armed men who stormed the area and carried out the abduction, throwing residents into panic.
During the attack, another individual sustained injuries as the assailants reportedly operated for several minutes before fleeing the scene with the victim to an unknown destination.
Residents said the development has heightened fear within the community, with many calling on security agencies to intensify efforts to tackle rising security concerns in the area.
Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Police Command disclosed that the case was officially reported at the Tede Divisional Headquarters on May 11, 2026, at about 10:20 p.m.
Police authorities stated that investigations have commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the attack and track down those responsible.
Security operatives were also said to have launched tactical operations and intelligence gathering aimed at rescuing the abducted victim unharmed and restoring calm in the affected community.
The latest incident has further raised concerns among residents over cases of kidnapping and violent attacks in parts of the state, particularly within rural communities and border areas.
Community members have urged the government and security agencies to strengthen surveillance, increase patrols, and improve security presence across vulnerable areas to prevent further attacks.
