The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has threatened fresh industrial action over what it described as the poor and incomplete implementation of the December 2025 agreement reached with the Federal Government.

The union expressed dissatisfaction over unresolved issues, including the withheld three-and-a-half months’ salaries, promotion arrears, salary shortfalls linked to the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS), unremitted third-party deductions, and outstanding arrears of the 25 to 35 per cent wage award.

The decision followed the union’s National Executive Council meeting held at Modibbo Adama University in Yola.

Speaking after the meeting, ASUU President, Christopher Piwuna, warned that growing frustration among university lecturers over the government’s handling of welfare issues could trigger another round of industrial unrest if urgent steps are not taken.

He called on the Federal and State Governments to fully implement the agreement and address all pending issues in the interest of students, parents, and the nation’s education sector.

The union also disclosed that its National Executive Council would convene an emergency meeting in the coming weeks to assess the situation and decide on further action if necessary.
