Four members of the Oyo State House of Assembly have denied any involvement in an alleged plot to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde, describing the claims as false and politically motivated.
The lawmakers — Deputy Speaker, Hon. Abiodun Mohammed Fadeyi; Chief Whip, Hon. Gbenga Joseph Oyekola; Hon. Sunkanmi Babalola, representing Egbeda State Constituency; and Hon. Saminu Riliwanu Gbadamosi, representing Atisbo/Saki-East Constituency — reaffirmed their loyalty to the governor and urged residents to disregard the rumours.
They were reportedly linked to a meeting in Lagos allegedly convened to discuss plans to remove the governor. However, all four lawmakers have distanced themselves from the claim.
Fadeyi, who represents Ona Ara State Constituency, described the allegation as baseless and a calculated attempt to tarnish his reputation. He denied attending any such meeting and stressed that he would never be part of any move to destabilise the state.
Similarly, Oyekola, representing Atiba State Constituency, dismissed the claim as unfounded and politically driven. He stated that he was neither contacted nor invited to any meeting related to impeachment and reaffirmed his commitment to peace and stability in the state.
Babalola also rejected the allegation, insisting he was not part of any gathering or agenda aimed at undermining the current administration. He emphasised his support for the progress recorded under the present government.
Gbadamosi, popularly known as Wale Canada, reiterated his loyalty to Governor Makinde, describing the impeachment rumours as contrary to his values and relationship with the governor. He pledged continued support for policies that promote the development of Oyo State.
The lawmakers collectively called on the public to ignore the speculation, maintaining their commitment to good governance and the continued progress of the state.
