The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched its 2026 Easter Special Patrol Operations, aimed at ensuring safe and smooth travel for road users across the country during the Easter holiday.

The nationwide operation will run from April 1 to April 8, 2026, in response to the expected surge in vehicular and human movement as Christians mark the Easter celebration.

According to the Corps, special attention will be placed on several high-risk and high-traffic corridors across the country. These include major routes such as Lagos-Ibadan, Sagamu-Ore-Benin, Abuja-Lokoja, Benin-Auchi-Okene, Kaduna-Zaria-Kano, Ilorin-Mokwa-Birnin Gwari, Bauchi-Gombe, as well as key eastern routes like Onitsha-Asaba-Benin, Onitsha-Owerri, and Enugu-Aba-Port Harcourt.

The FRSC said personnel and logistics have been strategically deployed along these corridors to improve traffic flow, strengthen emergency response, and increase operational visibility.

As part of the operation, the Corps will intensify enforcement against major traffic offences often linked to road crashes. These include speeding, dangerous driving, overloading, lane indiscipline, use of mobile phones while driving, tyre-related violations, road obstruction, and mix-loading of passengers with goods.

The Corps also said it would pay close attention to seat belt use, child restraint compliance, passengers’ manifest violations, and mechanically defective vehicles.

To strengthen enforcement, mobile courts will be deployed along major routes to ensure the prompt prosecution of traffic offenders.

In addition, the FRSC has activated 24-hour patrol, rescue, and traffic management services, supported by patrol vehicles, ambulances, tow trucks, and modern enforcement equipment.

The agency also said public awareness campaigns would be intensified through National Traffic Radio 107.1 FM and other media channels to provide road users with real-time travel advisories and safety updates.

Motorists have been urged to obey traffic regulations, avoid reckless driving, and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on any journey.

For emergencies, members of the public can reach the FRSC through its toll-free number 122 or 0700-CALL-FRSC.
