Nigerian singer Portable has expressed frustration over what he described as low earnings from music streaming platforms despite consistently releasing songs and having an international fanbase.
In a recent video, the “Zazu” crooner appealed to music executive Don Jazzy for guidance on how to improve his streaming revenue.
Portable said his income from Apple Music remains disappointing, attributing it partly to claims that streams from Nigeria generate less revenue compared to those from other regions.
He questioned how revenue from his global audience is calculated, noting that he has listeners not only in Nigeria but also in countries like the United States and beyond.
“I am in pain. I have been uploading my songs on Apple Music every month but the money I generate is too low,” he said.
The singer further appealed to Don Jazzy to help him understand how to maximise earnings from streaming platforms, expressing confidence that better knowledge of the system could significantly boost his career.
Portable added that learning how to effectively monetise his streams could position him among the top-earning artistes in Nigeria.
