The Oyo State Police Command has arrested four suspects in connection with a cattle rustling incident at Ado-Awaye in Iseyin Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement released on Monday in Ibadan by the Police Public Relations Officer, **Olayinka Ayanlade**, the command said the arrests followed a swift response to a distress report from the Ado-Awaye Division.

According to the statement, the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, March 13, 2026, around 2:00 a.m., when a resident, Muhammad Ibrahim from the Igbojaye area, reported that armed men had invaded the cattle camp of one Yahaya at Iserin area via Ado-Awaye and made away with several cows.

Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer of the Ado-Awaye Division mobilised a joint team of police operatives and local vigilantes to the scene.

On arrival, the team discovered that the suspects had already loaded two cows into a white Mazda bus with registration number KMA 178 ZY and were attempting to load three more when the patrol team approached. The suspects abandoned the vehicle with the stolen cows and fled into the bush.

Two cattle herders, Ibrahim Musa and Ibrahim Umaru, who had been tied together by the attackers, were found at the scene.

A coordinated manhunt and bush-combing operation led to the arrest of Sekooni Wale, 30, the driver of the Mazda bus, and Jimoh Toheeb, 25, the motor boy.

Further investigation extended to Maya Town in the Lanlate area, where the alleged principal suspect, Moshood Abdullahi, 38, was arrested. Police said Abdullahi, who reportedly came from Badagry, had been identified as a notorious cattle rustler. His arrest also led to the apprehension of another accomplice, Macho Sindi, 29.

Police said the suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime during interrogation.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Femi Haruna, commended the operatives and local security partners for their swift response, which led to the recovery of the stolen cattle and the arrest of the suspects. He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies to support the fight against crime.
