The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Salihu Sanusi Avidime, has called on staff members to support ongoing reforms aimed at improving the institution’s performance and strengthening its academic standards.

Avidime made the appeal during a familiarisation visit to the institution’s Utakpe campus, where he met with staff and stakeholders as part of his early engagements following his recent assumption of office. He said the visit was necessary to understand staff concerns, identify operational challenges, and develop practical solutions to enhance productivity and institutional growth.

The rector emphasised the importance of the School of Engineering to the polytechnic’s mandate, noting that technical education and hands-on training remain central to the institution’s mission. He reaffirmed management’s commitment to improving staff welfare, describing employees as critical partners in achieving academic excellence and institutional stability.

Avidime urged staff to remain committed, diligent, and law-abiding, assuring them that management would address cases of truancy and misconduct fairly while promoting equity and justice in administration. He expressed confidence that the institution’s challenges could be overcome through unity, dedication, and collective effort.

He also appreciated the support of Ahmed Usman Ododo for entrusting him with the leadership of the polytechnic and acknowledged the encouragement he received from former governor Yahaya Bello.

Staff members who spoke during the visit pledged their loyalty and support for the rector’s administration and reform agenda.
