The Lagos State Police Command has ordered an immediate increase in security presence and surveillance along the Mile 12–Ketu axis following reports of robbery incidents targeting motorists in the area.

The development comes after concerns were raised by members of the public about suspected criminal activities along the busy corridor, which serves as a major route for commuters and commercial operators within Lagos.

In response, the Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed that the Commissioner of Police had directed officers responsible for the affected area to take immediate and decisive action to address the situation.

According to her, the Area Commander, Divisional Police Officer, and tactical units assigned to the Mile 12 and Ketu axis have been instructed to intensify patrols, strengthen surveillance, and ensure adequate security coverage to deter criminal activities and protect residents and road users.

She explained that the directive forms part of ongoing efforts by the command to maintain law and order, prevent crime, and ensure the safety of lives and property across the state.

Adebisi also reassured the public that the police remain committed to responding promptly to security concerns and addressing any threats to public safety. She urged residents, commuters, and business operators within the area to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by reporting suspicious movements or incidents without delay.

The police spokesperson emphasised the importance of timely information from the public, noting that such cooperation plays a critical role in enabling security personnel to respond swiftly and prevent potential criminal acts.

To enhance rapid response, the command encouraged members of the public to make use of its dedicated emergency helplines, including 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, 08039344870, and 09168630929, in the event of emergencies or security threats.

She added that the command would continue to monitor the situation closely and deploy additional resources where necessary to ensure that the Mile 12–Ketu axis and surrounding communities remain safe and secure for all road users and residents.
