Tottenham Hotspur have sacked head coach Thomas Frank after less than eight months in charge, following a 2–1 home defeat to Newcastle United on Tuesday.
The loss extended Spurs’ poor run of form, leaving the North London club in 16th place in the Premier League standings, just five points above the relegation zone.
Tottenham are now without a win in their last eight league matches, marking their longest winless streak in the Premier League since October 2008. The club has managed just two victories in their last 17 league games, collecting only 12 points during that period.
Frank was appointed in June on a contract running until 2028, succeeding Ange Postecoglou. However, he struggled to improve Tottenham’s domestic league performance despite showing promise in European competition.
Under his leadership, Spurs recorded seven wins, eight draws, and 11 defeats in the Premier League this season. However, the Danish coach guided the club to a strong Champions League campaign, securing automatic qualification for the round of 16 after finishing fourth in their group.
Tottenham’s domestic cup performances were also disappointing. The club was eliminated from the Carabao Cup in the fourth round by Newcastle United in October and knocked out of the FA Cup in the third round by Aston Villa last month.
The club is yet to announce Frank’s replacement as it seeks to stabilise its season and avoid being drawn into a relegation battle.
