The Borno State Government has sworn in six newly appointed High Court judges in a move aimed at strengthening justice delivery and enhancing public confidence in the judiciary.
The Acting Governor, Umar Usman Kadafur, administered the oath of office to the judges during a ceremony held at the Government House in Maiduguri.
Kadafur said the appointments were part of ongoing efforts to improve the efficiency of the judicial system and ensure timely dispensation of justice. He noted that the state had introduced several reforms to modernise judicial processes, including electronic filing systems, digital case management, and improved access to online legal resources to reduce delays.
He urged the newly sworn-in judges to uphold the principles of integrity, impartiality, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties, assuring them of the government’s continued support for judicial reforms.
In his remarks, the Chief Judge of Borno State, Justice Kashim Zannah, congratulated the judges and described their appointment as a call to greater responsibility and service.
He emphasised the need for the judiciary to remain independent and committed to delivering justice without fear or favour. Justice Zannah also encouraged the judges to embrace technological innovations aimed at improving efficiency and expanding access to justice.
The ceremony was attended by senior government officials, judicial officers, and members of the legal profession.
