Bandits have struck once again in Kwara State, abducting 11 residents, including a pregnant woman, two nursing mothers, and several children, from Isapa in Ekiti Local Government Area. The attack occurred around 6:00 p.m. on Monday, throwing the community into fear and panic.
This latest incident comes barely a week after 38 worshippers of Christ Apostolic Church in Oke Isegun, Eruku, were kidnapped in a similar raid, highlighting a disturbing trend of escalating criminal activity in the state.
Residents reported that the assailants stormed the community in multiple vehicles, targeting homes indiscriminately before whisking away the victims. Many families have since fled their homes, fearing further attacks, while local security agencies have been deployed to track down the perpetrators and secure the release of the abducted residents.
Community leaders and local authorities are calling for urgent intervention to protect residents, particularly vulnerable groups such as women and children, and to restore confidence in security arrangements within the area.
The repeated kidnappings in Kwara State have raised serious concerns about the capacity of security agencies to prevent and respond to such attacks, as well as the broader safety of communities across the region. Efforts to rescue the victims are reportedly ongoing, with intelligence-led operations currently underway.
Officials are appealing to residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious movements, while promising that security agencies are fully committed to ending the cycle of abductions and restoring peace to affected communities.
