President Bola Tinubu has approved an 18-month extension of the tenures of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Kemi Nanna Nandap, and the Controller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche.
Under the extension, Nwakuche will remain in office until May 26, 2028, while Nandap’s tenure will end on June 30, 2028.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed the development in a statement on Monday, saying the approval followed a recommendation by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
According to the Presidency, the extension is intended to address succession gaps and give the relevant boards sufficient time to appoint successors, ensuring an orderly leadership transition.
Tinubu commended the two service chiefs for their contributions to institutional reforms and urged them to consolidate the progress recorded in their respective agencies.
Nandap was appointed Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service in February 2024, while Nwakuche was nominated to lead the Nigerian Correctional Service in December 2024 and confirmed by the Senate in March 2025.
