Bayern Munich will face Arsenal in a crucial UEFA Champions League encounter on Wednesday without influential winger Michael Olise, who is suspended following his red card in last week’s 3-3 draw against Viking.
Olise was sent off after receiving two yellow cards within a minute, including one for throwing the ball at Viking captain Zlatko Tripic following a verbal exchange. The French international has been in impressive form this season, recording nine goals and five assists in 10 appearances across all competitions.
His absence presents a challenge for Bayern, particularly with Jamal Musiala struggling with injury and illness, while Serge Gnabry and Lennart Karl have yet to reach their best form. However, striker Harry Kane has continued to deliver, registering nine goals and six assists in 10 matches.
Kane acknowledged that Bayern would miss Olise but urged other members of the squad to take responsibility. The England captain demonstrated his importance in the 3-3 draw against Viking, scoring twice and providing an assist after Bayern fell two goals behind.
Luis Diaz is another option for Bayern after an impressive performance in their 6-1 Bundesliga victory over RB Leipzig on Saturday, in which he scored a hat-trick and provided an assist.
Bayern will face an Arsenal side that has won 10 of its 11 matches in all competitions this season. Kane described the encounter as an opportunity to test Bayern against one of Europe’s leading teams, with the German champions seeking a strong performance against Mikel Arteta’s side.
