Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved the immediate disengagement of all directors-general of government agencies and technical advisers as part of the completion of the process of disengaging political appointees in his administration.

The affected officials have been directed to submit their handover notes to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Olayinka Oyebode.

Oyebanji thanked the affected officials for their contributions to his administration and the development of the state, while wishing them success in their future endeavours.

The decision comes as the governor prepares for his second-term inauguration scheduled for October 16, following the dissolution of the State Executive Council barely 24 hours earlier.

The latest move follows an earlier dissolution of boards, commissions and parastatals, as well as the termination of appointments of political aides on September 27. Directors-general and technical advisers had initially been exempted from that exercise.
