The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, has sworn in 68 legal practitioners as Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN) at the opening of the 2026/2027 Legal Year.
The new SANs comprise 67 advocates and one academic, Professor Nnamdi Onyeka Obiaraeri. Their induction followed approval by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) at its 174th plenary session, held about three months ago.
The LPPC oversees the conferment of the prestigious rank, assessing candidates based on established guidelines and professional standards. The swearing-in ceremony formed part of activities marking the commencement of the new legal year.
