The APC Presidential Campaign Council, PCC, has urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing disagreement between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
PCC spokesman, Ima Niboro, described the dispute as an internal disagreement among political allies, saying both sides remain committed to Tinubu’s return as President in 2027.
The disagreement centres on Wike’s proposed Rainbow Coalition, which has raised concerns among APC governors over its potential impact on the party’s candidates in the 2027 elections.
Some APC governors, led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, have said they would not support any alliance that could undermine the party or Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Wike, however, has maintained his support for Tinubu, arguing that supporting the President does not mean abandoning his political party or preventing other parties from fielding candidates.
Niboro said President Tinubu has the political experience to manage the disagreement and urged the parties to resolve their differences internally rather than through public exchanges.
APC chieftain Joe Igbokwe also called on Wike to meet with the APC governors and explain the objectives of the Rainbow Coalition, saying dialogue would help address the concerns surrounding the initiative.
The dispute comes as political parties and their leaders intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections.
