Vice President Kashim Shettima has urged members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kwara State to reconcile their differences and avoid bitterness as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections intensify.

Shettima made the call on Wednesday in Ilorin during the turbanning of Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, as the Sardauna of Ilorin Emirate by the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari.

The Vice President said political contests should not be allowed to create permanent divisions among politicians, stressing that public office is temporary.

He cited President Bola Tinubu’s decision to reconcile with northern governors who opposed his presidential ambition in the 2023 election as an example of political maturity.

Shettima urged politicians in Kwara State, particularly those involved in the ongoing disagreements within the state APC, to put their differences aside after political contests.

The appeal comes amid tensions within the Kwara APC following the party’s governorship primary, with some aggrieved aspirants and their supporters forming a group known as the G-15.

The Vice President also urged political leaders to serve with humility and responsibility, saying what unites Nigerians should be greater than their political differences.

Shettima earlier inaugurated the state’s Revenue House and a garment factory in Ilorin, which has a projected capacity to employ 4,000 people when fully operational.
