Police Tighten Security in Yola Ahead of Shettima’s Visit

The Adamawa State Police Command has tightened security across Yola ahead of Vice President Kashim Shettima’s condolence visit to the family of the late Bamanga Tukur.

The command said it deployed personnel from the Police Mobile Force, Counter Terrorism Unit, Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Intelligence and Traffic units, alongside armoured vehicles, to strategic locations across the state capital.

Police spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the deployment was ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Kabir Hassan, to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free visit.

The police also announced traffic diversions and stop-and-search operations in parts of Yola.

The command urged residents to cooperate with security personnel, remain vigilant and report suspicious persons or movements to the police.

The Commissioner warned individuals planning to disrupt the visit to stay away from the venues, assuring residents that the command would continue to protect lives and property.
