Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has given kidnappers and other criminal elements operating in the state’s forest reserves 14 days to vacate the forests.

The governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Forestry, Bidemi Obayangban, disclosed this in Akure on Wednesday.

Obayangban said the directive was part of measures to restore security in the forests and create a safe environment for farmers, investors, timber contractors and other legitimate businesses.

He said the state government was working with security agencies and local hunters to tackle kidnapping and other criminal activities in the forest reserves.

According to him, the government has concluded plans to reclaim the forests from criminal elements and strengthen security across the state.

Obayangban warned that those who fail to leave the forests within the 14-day deadline would face government action.
