Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Bathiya Wesley, has denied reports that he plans to leave the All Progressives Congress for the Action People’s Movement.

The rumour emerged shortly after former Speaker and serving lawmaker Kabiru Mijinyawa defected from the APC to the APM alongside thousands of supporters.

However, Wesley’s Press Secretary, Bernard Hyellamada, dismissed the report as false, saying the Speaker has no intention of leaving the APC.

He said Wesley would remain in the APC through the 2027 general elections, citing his commitment to the party.

The development comes amid reported internal disagreements within the Adamawa APC, with several party members recently defecting to the APM.
