The Kebbi State Police Command, working with the military, has neutralised suspected terrorists during a joint clearance operation at Gumki Forest in Kangiwa, Arewa Local Government Area.
The operation, conducted early Monday, also led to the recovery of firearms, ammunition, motorcycles and other items allegedly belonging to the criminal elements.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the forest is a known route used by bandits and Lakurawa elements operating in the area.
Recovered items included one PKT rifle with 174 rounds of ammunition, an AK-47 rifle with 14 rounds, four motorcycles, two mobile phones, military camouflage uniforms, boots and charms.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar Hadejia, commended the security personnel involved and said the command would continue coordinated and intelligence-led operations against banditry, terrorism and other criminal activities.
He also urged residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing operations.
Police said the area remained relatively calm and that clearance operations would continue until criminal elements are removed from the forest and surrounding routes.
