NOA Urges Calm Over Petrol Price Fluctuations

The National Orientation Agency, NOA, has urged Nigerians to remain calm amid fluctuations in the retail price of petrol.

The NOA Director in Kebbi State, Muhammed Nasir-Karofi, said the changes were linked to movements in international crude oil prices, market conditions and foreign exchange factors under the deregulated downstream petroleum sector.

He acknowledged the economic pressure the price changes could place on households and businesses but said the reforms were aimed at improving the country’s financial position and reducing the burden of fuel subsidies.

Nasir-Karofi also said the Kebbi State Government was implementing measures to cushion the impact, including transport support, healthcare interventions, agricultural assistance and empowerment programmes.

He urged Nigerians, community leaders and civil society groups to remain patient and support ongoing government reforms.
