Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has pledged the state government’s support towards completing the National Integrated Power Project along the Ikot Ekpene–Ikot Abasi axis.

Eno made the commitment on Tuesday when he received a delegation from the Niger Delta Power Holding Company of Nigeria, led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Jennifer Adighije, at the Government House in Uyo.

The governor said the completion of the 330kV transmission line would improve electricity supply and support industrial development in the state.

He assured the NDPHC that the state government would intervene to resolve outstanding issues delaying the project.

Adighije disclosed that the project, which began about 20 years ago, had been stalled partly by unresolved compensation issues involving host communities.

She said the NDPHC sought the state government’s intervention to facilitate completion of the project and improve electricity supply across Akwa Ibom.

Adighije also expressed the company’s readiness to collaborate with the state’s new Electricity Regulatory Commission to develop an effective electricity market framework.

The NDPHC boss commended Governor Eno for his willingness to support the completion of the project.
