Seven people have died and two others injured in a multiple road crash involving three vehicles around Kara on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Sector Command, said the crash occurred at about 12:03 am on Monday and involved a white HOWO truck, a white MACK trailer and a Mitsubishi Canter.

According to the FRSC, all nine victims were male. Seven died in the crash while two sustained injuries.

The corps said its Ibafo Outpost arrived at the scene shortly after receiving the report. The deceased were evacuated by the Ogun State Ambulance Service, while the injured were taken for medical treatment.

The FRSC identified excessive speed as the probable cause of the crash, subject to further investigation.

The vehicles were handed over to the Motor Traffic Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Ibafo, for further action.

The Ogun State Sector Commander, Oludare Ogunjobi, urged motorists, particularly drivers of articulated vehicles, to avoid speeding, maintain safe following distances and exercise caution when driving at night.

He also commiserated with the families of the deceased and wished the injured victims a speedy recovery.
