The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has reaffirmed Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as its governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
The party made the clarification in a statement signed by its state chairman, Yemi Sanusi, following claims by Abayomi Hunye that he is the APC governorship candidate.
The APC described Hunye’s claim as false and urged members, supporters and the public to disregard it.
According to the party, Adeola emerged as its candidate after securing 304,055 votes out of 305,287 accredited voters at the governorship primary. His running mate is Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun.
The party said the names of Adeola and Adegunwa-Balogun had been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission as its candidate and running mate for the 2027 election.
However, Hunye, through his media office, denied declaring himself the APC candidate. He said the matter remained before a court and that the legal issues surrounding the emergence of the party’s candidate were still subject to judicial determination.
Hunye had earlier unveiled Abayomi Odunowo as his running mate and said he would continue to pursue the matter in accordance with the law.
The Ogun APC maintained that Adeola remains its recognised candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
