Osun Election: 10 LGAs That Could Decide Adeleke, Oyebamiji Race

As Osun State prepares for Saturday’s governorship election, attention is shifting to key local government areas where the contest between the leading candidates could be decided.

Incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji and ADC candidate Najeem Salaam are the major contenders.

The main battlegrounds are Osogbo, Olorunda, Ife Central, Ife East, Ife South, Odo Otin, Iwo and Ilesa East.

In Osogbo and Olorunda, all three candidates are seeking to strengthen their support, making the areas closely contested.

Adeleke is expected to have an advantage in Ife Central, Ife East and Ife South through the influence of his running mate, Kola Adewusi. However, Oyebamiji could benefit from his running mate, Benjamin Adereti, who hails from Ile-Ife.

In Odo Otin, Oyebamiji has the backing of former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, while the influence of House of Assembly Speaker Wale Egbedun could make the contest tighter.

Ilesa East is another key battleground, with Oyebamiji having a local advantage, although former Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s influence could affect the APC’s chances.

In Iwo, Adeleke has the support of former Osun SSG Moshood Adeoti, while APC figure Amin Ogunbiyi could challenge the governor’s position.

The outcome in these areas could prove crucial as the candidates battle for victory in Saturday’s election.
