The Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by the Oyo State Government to investigate the abduction of 46 pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area has called for public submissions ahead of its investigation.
The commission is seeking information on the circumstances surrounding the abduction from Esinele and Yawota communities, as well as the security response before, during and after the attack.
It gave Friday, August 14, 2026, as the deadline for submission of memoranda.
Meanwhile, the Department of State Services (DSS) has released and compensated a Katsina-born artisan, Mustapha Marwana, after an investigation cleared him of alleged links to terrorist activities.
Marwana was arrested in connection with the Oriire abduction and killings and was subsequently investigated over possible links to the Ansaru terrorist group.
A security source said the investigation found no evidence linking him to the group’s membership, financing, logistics or operations.
Following the review of his case, DSS Director-General Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi ordered his release and compensation for the period spent in custody.
The Oyo State Government urged individuals and organisations with relevant information on the Oriire incident to submit memoranda to assist the commission in establishing the facts.
