The Oyo State Police Command has recovered a vehicle reportedly stolen in Ibadan and arrested a 21-year-old suspect in Gombe State.
The command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, said the vehicle was stolen on July 29, 2026, and recovered on August 3 following an intelligence-led investigation.
According to him, police operatives tracked the vehicle to Gombe, where they arrested Daniel Chinada Obidiukwu, who was allegedly found in possession of the stolen vehicle.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly stole the vehicle from Ibadan and drove it to Gombe State, where he planned to sell it to an unsuspecting buyer.
The vehicle has been recovered and taken into police custody as an exhibit, while the suspect remains in custody as investigations continue to identify other possible accomplices.
The police said the suspect would be charged to court after the completion of the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Abimbola Olugbenga, commended the operatives for the successful operation and reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing and inter-state collaboration in tackling crime.
