Former Anambra State Governor and 2027 presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, has expressed concerns over his personal safety and what he described as deliberate efforts to frustrate his businesses and political activities.

Speaking during an interview on With Chude, hosted by media personality Chude Jideonwo, Obi said he could not guarantee that he would be alive to contest the 2027 presidential election.

Responding to a question about his plans for the next election, Obi said, “Not even a candidate. I might not even be alive. Every single thing I do for a living, this government is frustrating it. Deliberately so. Everything. So, there is even a possibility, if they have the opportunity, I will not be alive.”

The former governor clarified that he was not making a direct accusation against any individual but maintained that he has experienced persistent obstacles in his daily activities, which he believes are deliberate.

Obi alleged that opposition figures across the country are being subjected to intimidation and harassment, claiming the actions extend beyond politics to affect their personal lives and livelihoods.

He also alleged that he has been denied certain privileges and shared an incident at an airport where, according to him, security officials locked his vehicle while leaving others untouched. Obi said that even after identifying himself, the officials allegedly ignored his complaints.

According to him, some of his supporters and associates have become reluctant to be publicly linked with him due to fear of possible repercussions.

“I have people send me invitations and say, ‘My son, my daughter is getting married, but please don’t come,'” Obi said, suggesting that some Nigerians fear being associated with opposition politicians.

Obi’s remarks come amid increasing political activities and discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections. There has been no official response from the Federal Government to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
