President Bola Tinubu has officially sworn in Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs during a ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The inauguration followed the resignation of former Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu and former Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar, who stepped down to pursue elective political positions ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections.

The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa and was attended by family members of the new ministers, cabinet members, and other senior government officials.

Both Tegbe and Enikanolaiye were nominated by President Tinubu in May 2026 and subsequently confirmed by the Senate after screening.

Enikanolaiye, a seasoned diplomat from Kogi State, brings over three decades of experience in Nigeria’s foreign service. He previously served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations and has held diplomatic postings in several countries, including Ethiopia, Serbia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and India.

A former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Enikanolaiye is widely respected for his contributions to Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements and international relations. He has received multiple national honours and professional recognitions throughout his career.

Tegbe, an indigene of Ibadan, Oyo State, takes charge of the Ministry of Power with extensive experience spanning both the private and public sectors. A trained civil engineer and management expert, he has held key leadership positions in multinational firms and advisory institutions.

Over the years, he has worked with several major organisations, including KPMG, Shell, Huawei, General Electric, MTN, the Nigerian Communications Commission, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, and Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading.

He has also played significant roles in policy reforms, fiscal restructuring initiatives, and strategic economic planning at both federal and state levels.

Before his appointment, Tegbe served as Director-General and Global Liaison of the Nigeria-China Strategic Partnership.

The latest appointments form part of ongoing changes within President Tinubu’s cabinet, following directives requiring ministers seeking elective positions to resign before participating in party primaries.

Since the inauguration of the Federal Executive Council in August 2023, the administration has implemented several cabinet reshuffles and portfolio adjustments aimed at strengthening governance and advancing its policy agenda.

The appointment of Tegbe and Enikanolaiye is expected to bolster efforts in the power and foreign affairs sectors as the administration continues to pursue its development and diplomatic objectives.
