The Lagos State Police Command has assured residents, parents, and school authorities that there is no credible intelligence suggesting any imminent attack on schools in the state, despite the circulation of a threatening notice allegedly warning of planned abductions of schoolchildren by bandits.

The assurance follows widespread concern triggered by reports of a notice purportedly pasted at a school, claiming that criminal elements intended to invade the premises and kidnap pupils.

In a statement released on Monday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the Command immediately reviewed the security situation and activated enhanced security measures in the affected area and other strategic locations across Lagos.

According to the statement, there is currently no verified intelligence indicating any planned attack on schools or residents within the state.

The police, however, emphasized that all security-related reports are being treated seriously and urged members of the public to remain calm while security agencies continue to monitor developments.

Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, has directed an immediate security assessment and ordered the deployment of additional personnel to strengthen protection around schools, communities, and critical infrastructure.

The Command disclosed that police officers, working in collaboration with other security agencies, have been strategically deployed to enhance surveillance and deter any potential threats.

Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace and public safety, the police warned that any individual or group attempting to create panic, spread fear, or engage in criminal activities would face the full weight of the law.

The Command also called on residents to support ongoing security efforts by providing timely and credible information regarding suspicious persons, activities, or objects within their communities.

It stressed that effective security depends on active cooperation between law enforcement agencies and members of the public.

Residents were encouraged to promptly report any suspicious movement or security concern through the nearest police station or designated emergency channels.

The Lagos State Police Command reiterated that all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure the continued safety and security of residents and educational institutions across the state.
