Former Minister of Power and governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Adebayo Adelabu, has stated that the party’s governorship candidate for the 2027 election has not yet been officially determined.

Adelabu urged party members, supporters, and stakeholders to remain calm and avoid being influenced by speculations, unofficial announcements, and reports circulating on social media regarding the outcome of the party’s internal processes.

According to him, the APC’s candidate can only emerge through the official procedures and announcements of the party’s national leadership, stressing that no individual, group, or state-level organ has the authority to make a final declaration on behalf of the party.

The former minister emphasized the need for party faithful to exercise patience while awaiting the conclusion of consultations and the official position of the APC leadership. He noted that premature declarations and victory claims could create unnecessary tension, confusion, and division within the party at a critical period.

Adelabu warned against treating unofficial reports as final, insisting that members should rely only on information released through recognised party channels. He maintained that circulating unverified claims about candidates and elective positions could undermine party unity and distract members from the broader objective of strengthening the APC ahead of future elections.

He further stressed the importance of discipline, fairness, and respect for internal democratic processes, describing these values as essential for maintaining confidence among party members and ensuring the credibility of the party’s decision-making structures.

According to him, all aspirants and stakeholders should be given equal opportunities within the framework of the party’s rules and guidelines, while members should avoid actions capable of creating factions or deepening political disagreements.

Adelabu also called on APC supporters across Oyo State to remain focused on the collective interest of the party rather than individual ambitions. He urged members to continue supporting efforts aimed at building a stronger and more united political platform capable of achieving its objectives in future elections.

The governorship aspirant reiterated his commitment to the APC and expressed confidence in the party’s ability to conduct its affairs in accordance with established procedures. He noted that transparency and due process remain critical to sustaining trust among members and preserving the integrity of the party.

He therefore appealed to party faithful to disregard rumours, unofficial lists, and speculative reports regarding candidates for various elective positions, insisting that only official communications from the national leadership of the APC should be considered authoritative.

Adelabu concluded by encouraging members to remain peaceful, united, and committed to the ideals of the party while awaiting the final outcome of ongoing consultations and official pronouncements.
