Former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has raised concerns over the circumstances surrounding the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, suggesting that there may be political undertones behind the incident.

Speaking during a television interview, Fayose questioned the handling of the situation and expressed dissatisfaction with the response of the Oyo State Government following the abduction. According to him, the sequence of events and the timing of official actions have generated concerns that deserve closer scrutiny.

The former governor alleged that the incident could have been used as a political tool to create negative perceptions and stir controversy at the national level. He argued that the response from relevant authorities did not come as quickly as many expected, especially considering the gravity of the situation and the distress experienced by affected families.

Fayose maintained that government officials should have moved more swiftly to address public concerns and reassure residents immediately after the incident occurred. He noted that in situations involving the safety of children and teachers, prompt intervention and clear communication are essential to maintaining public confidence.

According to him, the delay in visible actions and engagement with affected communities contributed to growing anxiety among residents and raised questions about the management of the crisis. He stressed that issues relating to security should never become subjects of political rivalry, as the welfare of citizens must always come first.

The former governor further emphasized the importance of accountability and proactive leadership during periods of security challenges. He called on political leaders at all levels to place the safety of citizens above partisan interests and focus on practical measures capable of addressing insecurity.

Fayose also urged authorities to strengthen security efforts and ensure that all available resources are deployed toward protecting lives and property. He maintained that Nigerians expect decisive action from government officials whenever incidents affecting public safety occur.

While reiterating his concerns, the former governor called for greater collaboration among security agencies, government institutions, and community stakeholders in tackling security threats and preventing future occurrences.

He added that citizens deserve transparency, responsiveness, and effective leadership in moments of crisis, stressing that public confidence can only be sustained when governments act swiftly and decisively in addressing issues that directly affect the lives of the people.
