President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep concern over the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, assuring affected families that the Federal Government is committed to securing the safe return of all victims.
The President described the incident as heartbreaking, stressing that schools should remain safe spaces for learning and development. He noted that no child should be subjected to fear, violence, or uncertainty while pursuing an education, and extended his sympathy to parents, guardians, and community members affected by the tragic event.
Tinubu also paid tribute to the late teacher who lost his life during the attack, describing the sacrifice as painful and unfortunate. He offered condolences to the bereaved family and assured them that the nation would remember the dedication and service of the deceased.
According to the President, security agencies have been directed to intensify ongoing rescue operations through coordinated and intelligence-driven efforts. He emphasized that all lawful measures are being deployed to ensure the victims are rescued safely while efforts continue to track down those responsible for the attack.
The Federal Government has further strengthened security operations in the affected communities through the deployment of specialised personnel with advanced rescue capabilities. Additional measures have also been introduced to improve surveillance and security coverage in vulnerable areas, particularly around forest corridors often exploited by criminal groups.
Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting schools, communities, and critical public institutions from criminal elements.
