The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, has congratulated Muslims on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir while urging them to remain vigilant and security-conscious throughout the celebration.

The monarch gave the advice in a statement issued in Ibadan through his Media Aide, Adeola Oloko, on Tuesday.

Oba Ladoja noted that witnessing another Eid-el-Kabir celebration is a privilege that should not be taken for granted, urging Nigerians to celebrate with gratitude and caution.

According to him, although the festive period is traditionally marked with joy and merriment, Muslims should celebrate prayerfully and soberly in view of the security challenges facing the country.

The first class monarch said Nigerians must continue to be mindful of their surroundings at all times while commemorating the exemplary life of Prophet Ibrahim, who demonstrated total obedience and sacrifice to God.

“Although the occasion calls for merriment, we need to celebrate it prayerfully and soberly bearing in mind the challenges facing Nigeria such as insecurity,” he stated.

Oba Ladoja described Eid-el-Kabir as one of the most spiritually significant festivals in the Islamic calendar and called on Muslims to use the occasion to pray for peace, security, and prosperity in Nigeria.

He also urged citizens to pray for peaceful democratic processes ahead of future elections in the country.

The monarch further encouraged well-meaning Nigerians to support the less privileged during the celebration, stressing that those blessed with resources should extend love and care to others in need.

The Olubadan, who also serves as the Chairman of the Oyo State Council of Obas and Chiefs, expressed concern over the rising cases of banditry and kidnapping across the country, particularly the recent abduction of students in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.

He appealed to residents to support ongoing efforts by relevant stakeholders and security agencies to secure the safe release of those held captive.
